This is a delightful series. Sir John Fielding was a real person He was the blind brother of the author Henry Fielding (Tom Jones). Together they formed the first official police force in London during the 1700's Called The Bow Street Runners which operated out of The Magistrate's Office on Bow Street, London. Both Henry and Sir John served as Magistrates of the court. It is said that Sir John Fielding regularly worked on the investigation of his cases himself. The cases are narrated by Jeremy Proctor, a fictitious orphan, that Sir John saved from wrongful prosecution. Each case is very entertaining, you will be left guessing till the end " who did it ". There is a lively cast of regulars, and villains . The narration is excellent. If you like Historical Mysteries you will enjoy this series.
